Who: researchers at DESY – PETRA III, Beamline P01 (IRIXS).

What: they presented resolution & stability measurements using a Vacuum FAB linear pusher in closed-loop: 2 µm steps within ±10 nm, and 50 nm steps with ±10 nm deadband. 

Where/When: MEDSI 2025, Lund, Sweden, 15–19 September 2025.

Why: to show that stepper motors with feedback can replace piezos in high-vacuum HRM while keeping nanometric stability.
